About the Camp

Monday-Friday, June 6 - August 19, 2016

Ages 5-7

Medical Detectives - June 6-10 &  July 11-15 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Do you think you’d make a good detective? Learn more about the science, techniques and skills used by professionals who solve medical and forensics mysteries for a living. Campers will take fingerprints, find trace evidence and more in this introductory forensics camp designed specifically for kids.

Itty Bitty Bodies - June 13-17 & August 1-5 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

A summer experience for our youngest guests! Campers will be engaged during a project-packed week full of activities that include constructing casts and skeleton models, forming dookie cookies and more! It’s a great way to promote healthy habits in a fun and interactive way.

No Bones About It - June 20-24 & July 25-29 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Campers will create and personalize a skeleton, learn basic anatomy terminology and participate in bone discovery examination! You will be amazed at what your camper learns in this fun, hands-on camp program.

The Clinic Is Open - June 27-July 1 & August 8-12 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Bring your favorite stuffed or mechanical friend to camp and find out what happens when you visit the doctor! In The Clinic Is Open, campers and their pals will take a ‘medical history’ journey and perform simulated tests just like a doctor! Campers will have a blast as they test their skills as M.D.’s – Mini Doctors – and find out more about the world of medicine.

Lil Chef’s Academy - July 5-8 - $259 Members/$269 Non-Members & August 15-19 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Go ahead and play with your food, it will be a ton of fun! Try your hand at edible, kid-friendly creations including healthy smoothies and assorted pizzas! Enjoy learning about the basics of good nutrition. Create food-related crafts, learn about food science and more!

DNA Discoveries - July 18-22 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Did you know that DNA stores every single detail about you like your eye color? Learn more about DNA through this exciting hands on camp. Campers will be engaged through different hands on activities such as designing 3D DNA models and performing DNA extraction on fruit.

Ages 8-10

That’s Using Your Head -  June 6-10 &  July 11-15 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

What weighs three pounds, feels like oatmeal, and needs about 8 hours of sleep a night? Your brain, that’s what! Want to know more about the outrageous organ inside of your head? You’ll view a real human brain, dissect a sheep brain, learn about your senses, build and test helmets and lots more in this incredible camp for the aspiring brain surgeons out there!

Pi Scratch Programming and Design - June 13-17 - $350

Do you enjoy playing video games? Do you want to learn what it takes to develop video games? If so, then this is the class for you! Learn the basics of programming and game design and discover benefits for the health and medical fields.

What Is That? - June 20-24 & August 15-19 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Did you know that the record for projectile vomit is 27 feet? Or that the acid in your stomach is strong enough to dissolve metal? Learn about these gross facts, make your own snot and more! This camp is great for kids who display great interest in their body functions!

Medical World Explorations -  June 20-24 & July 18-22 - $350

Take on the role of a surgeon. Learn the names and purposes of some instruments used by doctors. Participate is a simulated experience of working on a surgical team and learn how to suture and tie surgical knots. Also in this camp, campers will be able to explore the roles of a pharmacist.

Each session is facilitated by a certified Little Medical School instructor.

The Body Shop - June 27-July 1 & July 25-29 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

It’s a Mini Med experience for our younger campers! Discover the organs of the body through hands-on dissections. Learn about the bones and muscles that hold us together. See what it takes to keep our bodies healthy and strong. Offering an age-appropriate first encounter with human anatomy, this is a great adventure for kids who are curious about their bodies!

Savory Science - July 5-8 - $259 Members/$269 Non-Members*

Ever wondered what makes up your favorite entrées and desserts? Experience the kitchen chemistry behind some of your favorite foods. You will also gain the knowledge of how to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy ingredients in foods. It’s cooking and science all rolled into one great camp that is sure to transform any kitchen into a sophisticated laboratory.

VEX IQ Robots - July 11-15 - $350

Discover the world of Robotics in this fun, engaging camp. Explore the basics of learning to build and design robots that can be used for special activities. The camp will lay the foundation for future biomedical engineers. Explore new frontiers in medicine! Learn about cutting edge medical innovations!

Super Sleuths - July 18-22 & August 8-12 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Explore the world of forensic science by securing a crime scene, gathering information and processing evidence collected from the scene. Learn about blood typing, fingerprint analysis, and dental forensics to solve the case. Get an opportunity to test the reliability of eyewitness testimony. This camp is a wonderful opportunity full of hand on activities for the budding detective.

Design Simple Machines - August 1-5 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members

Are you always trying to figure out how things work? If so, this is the camp for you. Discover the basic knowledge of building simple machines. You will learn the foundation of designing mechanisms and how mechanisms are used in the medical field. Begin your journey to medical designs!

Ages 11-13

EV3 Robotics - June 6-10 - $350

Build a Robot! Bring your robot to life through special programming. Command its movements and adjust its skills. This camp will lay a foundation for future biomedical engineers who want to lead in medical revolutions!

Mini Medical School I -  June 13-17 & July 11-15 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Do you enjoy science? Have you ever considered a career in health or medicine? If so, this is the camp for you! Each Mini Medical School session gives campers the opportunity to view real human organs, experience hands-on dissections of animal organs. Campers will also have the opportunity to meet professionals and visit institutions within the Texas Medical Center. Like the first years of medical school, these camps differ in that they explore distinct body systems and medical specialties. Mini Med I explores the nervous system, musculoskeletal system, the digestive system, and much more. It is designed to foster interest in the medical related fields.
Mini Med I is not a pre-requisite for Mini Med II.

3-D Design and Printing - June 20-24 & August 8-12 - $350

Campers will explore the world of 3D Printing and will learn the process by designing their own 3D prints. This camp will connect the usage for advanced printing in the medical trainings and promotions of ideas in the health related fields.

DeBakey Cell Lab - June 27-July 1 & August 1-5 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Isolate DNA, work with various microbial agents, extract and view chromosomes, and more! This camp is designed for you, the budding scientist.

Mini Medical School II - June 27-July 1 & July 25-29 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Do you enjoy science? Have you ever considered a career in health or medicine? If so, this is the camp for you! Each Mini Medical School session gives campers the opportunity to view real human organs, experience hands-on dissections of animal organs. Campers will also have the opportunity to meet professionals and visit institutions within the Texas Medical Center. Like the first years of medical school, these camps differ in that they explore distinct body systems and medical specialties. Mini Med II explores the respiratory system, urinary system and much more. It is designed to foster interest in the medical related fields.
Mini Med I is not a pre-requisite for Mini Med II.

Edible Explorations - July 5-8 - $259 Members/$269 Non-Members*

Ever wonder why slushies don’t freeze? Experience the kitchen chemistry behind your favorite foods and candies in this camp. Investigate the physics of baking. Learn how to prepare tasty snacks and develop healthy eating habits. Even more, you will explore how real chefs serve up healthy science!

Mind Storm Robotics - July 18-22 - $350

Do you enjoy building, creating, and programming? Then, this camp is for you! Come and explore how to design different robots, and discover how robotics are used for different medical purposes.

Forensic Scientist - August 15-19 - $325 Members/$335 Non-Members*

Start your journey to become a forensic scientist! Tap into your investigative strengths. Investigate mysteries that depend on forensic science to solve. Work on team to create a scene for others to solve. You will enjoy securing, gathering, processing, interpreting and solving throughout this camp.

    Special exhibits may require an additional fee
  • Before Camp Care & After Camp Care

    Before Camp Care and After Camp Care are designed for working parents who require an earlier drop off time (as early as 7:30 a.m.) and/or supervised care for their campers after camp ends (3 - 5 p.m.). Campers will have the option to play fun games, watch age appropriate videos, do arts and crafts, solve puzzles and more. Snacks are not provided. Campers are encouraged to bring snacks from home. Before Camp Care has a separate, additional cost ($50/child per week) and can easily be added when registering for camp or upon check in of the first day of camp. After Camp Care also has a separate, additional cost ($75/child per week). Before Camp Care and After Camp Care are available for the entire week only and must be purchased on or before the first day of camp. Daily rates are not available. Campers must be picked up by 5 p.m., after which an extra charge of $1.00 per minute will be assessed. *Early bird registration discount only applies to camps marked with an asterisk.
