Movement, beauty, and change are characteristics of glaciers that inspire artists like Jae Ko. They're also themes that repeatedly emerge in the scientific study of glaciers. In this lecture, glaciologist Kurt Cuffey will give a personal accounting of how these themes recur in his studies of glaciers. In this context, he will discuss several major areas of ongoing scientific inquiry concerning the dynamics of glaciers, their effect on landscapes, and their relation to climate.
