frankenthrift

Lawndale Artist Studio Program resident Cobra McVey invites guests to collaborate in deconstructing thrift store objects to create Frankenthrift assemblages from the re-imagined parts. Exquisite corpse style, objects will be passed from one participant to another as they break down thrift finds and build them into new, exciting treasures - musical chair style! Beer, music and good times will be provided.

Participants should bring one or two three-dimensional objects that you find at the thrift store, plus any desired accessories (jewelry, scarves, hats, mittens, etc.) that they respond to emotionally and/or aesthetically. The object should be deconstruct-able and it should be something they are willing to deconstruct (cut, tear, glue, tape, sew, draw on, paint on, etc.). Deconstructing tools (scissors, hot glue guns, duct tape, etc.) will be provided. Guests can bring any special tools they'd like to use.
